Thermometers or thermostats?

Thermometers measure the temperature around them. Thermostats change the temperature around them.

Every day and in every situation, I have the choice to be a thermometer or a thermostat.

I can join in with those who are happy or those who are complaining, sometimes looking great and sometimes looking terrible but always reflecting the temperature of the situation I’m in and the people I’m with.

I can set the temperature, the tone, the mood of the situations I find myself in, rather than passively reflecting it. I can actively engage and change the temperature. But it’s always a choice. And it’s not just a one-time choice. It’s a choice in every setting I’m in and with every person I’m with.

Passive or active. Reflecting the temperature or changing the temperature. Which will I choose?
