The beauty of stretch marks

Stretch marks are a sign of having given birth. If we don’t have them literally or metaphorically, we probably haven’t given birth.

But if we do have stretch marks, we have taken part in the process of bringing new life into the world.

The question is: Do we just have wrinkles from being worn down by worry or fear or hostility? Or have we been stretched by God in his process of bringing new things, living things into the world?

We may see our stretch marks as unsightly, as ugly. But they are the beautiful reminders of how God has enlarged us and included us in his life-making work.
