Jim Elliot died 60 years ago. He was 28.
His love for God led him to Latin America, where he was eventually killed by the Waodoni people he was reaching out to. The outcome of that story a generation later is wonderfully related in the movie End of the Spear.
Elliot left behind a list of great quotes, expressing his faith. The most famous of these is: “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”
Embracing Christ so completely cost him his life, a life that is so completely embraced by Christ for all eternity.
