Psalm 98

(A psalm.)

It’s time to compose some new songs for Yahweh.
He’s done so many incredible things for us,
Just think of the ways
He’s gotten dirty while saving us.
No, Yahweh hasn’t saved us silently.
He’s done it in plain view of the whole world.
Like a ring on his finger,
His covenant love-bond with Israel
Are always in the front of his mind.
Even the farthest places on earth
Watched as God saved.

Shout your lungs out, earth!
Sing spontaneously to Yahweh!
Explode with praise!
Get out your guitar,
Get to composing for Yahweh.
Make the piano keys jump for joy.
Make your sax squeal.
Make your trumpet scream.
Make the air shiver with sound,
Exuberant with joy
In the Presence of the King,
In the Presence of Yahweh.

Let the ocean waves roar,
The breakers pound their applause.
The world and all creatures joining in
With whatever voice they have.
Let the fathomless deeps clap.
Let the mountains echo with song.
All creation bending toward Yahweh,
Yearning for his coming,
Longing for him to bring his justice.
For, yes, he will come as earth’s Judge,
Making all things right,
Treating all people fairly.
