Psalm 65

(Worship leader: A David psalm for singing.)

Simple waiting is praise
Offered to you, Zion’s God,
As is obedience.
You answer prayer
And people flock to you.
We were drowning in our sins so deep
And you emptied that ocean,
Forgiving us.
Those who choose you
Are choosing the sweet life for themselves.
Your courts become their home.
We get in on the good life
In your house,
In your temple.

We ask and you answer
Not by words,
But by deeds
So unexpected,
So beyond what we deserve.
You’re the hope of everyone
Everywhere.

Strong mountains were formed
By your strength.
Roaring oceans and chaotic nations are silenced
By your voice.
Wondrous earth is filled with awe
By your wonders.
From dawn to dusk,
Every place touched by the sun
Breaks out in song to you.

You love the earth
Like a gardener,
Watering it,
Fertilizing it.
You have carved out rivers and streams
So the land is covered in green,
Which people enjoy and eat.
From fields to mountain terraces,
You drench our crops,
Softening the soil with showers,
And the plenty brings prosperity.
When the harvest is completed,
We’re overwhelmed by the bounty,
Silos and storehouses filled to the ceiling.
Such abundance!
And the spreading grasslands untouched by human hands
Laugh and sing
With wildflowers.
Untamed herds graze freely
Through verdant meadows.
Barley and corn wave in the breeze,
A valley full of worshipers,
Filled with joy in their Creator.
