Psalm 138

(A David psalm.)

In the face of every so-called “God,”
I will praise you, Yahweh.
I will give you all my heart,
No reservation.
It’s toward your temple
That I’ll bow down,
Praising your name
Because of your relentless love,
Because of your true-blue fidelity.
Your name is so great,
But your Word is even greater.
When I called,
You answered —
Your Word came to me —
And I discovered new courage.

This would be the best:
Every king from everywhere
Listening to what you say, Yahweh,
Praising you.
Hearing them break into song
About the wise ways of Yahweh,
About the great glory of Yahweh.

Even with all this well-deserved fanfare,
Yahweh is always on the lookout
For the least,
For the last,
For the lost.
Though he is the highest,
He can always see the lowest.

When trouble comes at me from every side,
You keep my life intact.
You swat away my haters.
You scoop me up.
You’ll do what needs doing.
Your love is relentless, never stopping
So please don’t walk away from me now.
