Psalm 119 (Teth)

Insure my life, Yahweh,
Doing only good to me,
Matching your only good word.
Instruct me,
Giving me the skills of understanding
And sound reasoning,
All arising from your trustworthy commands.
I was so lost,
So miserably off-track
That my life fell apart.
Now, I obey your word.
Indisputable,
Your goodness runs through everything
You are and do.
I want that, too,
So teach me your wise way.
Idiot souls,
All pumped up with empty self-centeredness,
They’ve attacked me
With their smear campaign.
But I stick to your step-by-step plan
Whole-heartedly.
Insentive,
Covered with thick callouses,
Their hearts can’t feel a thing,
Have no sense of you.
But I find such pleasure in your torah-way.
It actually turned out best for me
To have my life fall apart.
Because that’s how I learned
To truly listen to your wisdom.
Ingots of gold,
Piled into mini mountains,
Mean nothing to me
Compared to the wealth
I receive from the torah-way
That came straight from your mouth.
