Psalm 119 (Part C)

Come, be generous with me
And I’ll live life to the fullest,
Paying attention to everything you say,
Clearly seeing
The wonderful things opened up
By following your way.
Culture surrounds me,
But I just don’t fit in.
I’m an alien to them.
Don’t let your commands
Seem alien to me.
Crushing my soul with passion
I long for your laws,
For your way of doing life.
Curses to themselves,
Those know-it-alls
Think they’re smarter than God,
Leaving your commands behind,
Striking out on their own.
Curtail their contempt,
Their mockery of me
For sticking to your statutes.
Celebrities can slander me.
I don’t care.
I’m your servant through and through,
And I’ll give my attention to what you say,
Not them.
Counselors,
Wisely keeping me sane and in line,
I love your boundary markers.
