Psalm 119 (G is for Zayin)

Give your full attention
To what you said to me,
Because you’ve been my only hope.
Grace in the middle of suffering
Has come from your promises.
They’ve kept me alive.
Goaded and slapped
By self-satisfied mockers,
I don’t flinch
But stay fixed on your law.
Grasping tightly
To your ancient laws,
I won’t let go
From this source of comfort.
Gagging with disgust,
I watch people become destroyers
Because they’ve walked away from your torah-way.
Guitar resting on my knee,
I write yet another song
Based on your wise words.
I sing these songs everywhere
This pilgrim life leads me.
Guided by your law,
My thoughts keep bending back to you, Yahweh,
Even in the middle of the night.
Ground beneath my feet:
Obedience to your precepts.
