Psalm 110

(A David psalm.)

Yahweh said to my Master,
“Have a seat,
Right here on the throne,
Next to me.
I’m going to turn your enemies into a doormat,
For you to wipe your feet on.”

Your scepter of kingship is also a weapon,
Extended out from Zion
By Yahweh himself.
He says,
“Right in the middle of enemies,
Rule!”

When war comes,
Your people will line up to fight for you.
Eager.
Dressed for battle.
Holy.
Young men and women
Will show up as from nowhere,
Like the dew born from the womb of dawn.

Yahweh has sworn an oath
He’ll never back away from.
“Just like Melchizedek,
You’ll be a priest forever.”

When the day of violence comes,
My Master will decimate kings.
He will judge the nations:
Bodies everywhere,
Leaders crushed
Across the whole earth.
On the way home,
He’ll stop by a brook
For a refreshing drink
And arrive
With head held high.
